Overview of the 2020 Photography Workshop in Sedona

|

The 2020 Love on Earth Workshop was hosted in Sedona, Arizona. This workshop had 10 attendees with Traci, Malachi and Bree + Stephen hosting classes for education. We all gathered into an Airbnb space after everyone checked into their hotel rooms for classes, community editing space and eating space. The first day Traci taught her course on how to create styled shoots that speak to your brand, will help you build connections with other folks in the industry and speak to couples you would jam with! Traci also talks about being prepared for an adventure elopement or styled shoot, how to prepare yourself and the couple and even their guests. Malachi and Traci also dive into Leave No Trace principals and how to apply them to elopements.

After the first class we all set out for our first styled shoot with a horse! The couple had horse experience so we paired with a local company and the forest service to create a sunset dream, complete with stunning florals and hair and make up. At the styled shoot it was assured everyone would get their own time to work with the couple one on one as well as shoot in a group. Following the epic-ness we all set out for a group dinner where we got to hang out together and do a group introduction.

Day two everyone was up before the sun and ready to go for our option sunrise hike for portrait swaps! Since everyone was up and down we did a poll the evening before and decided to add some couples to the morning shoot. We had four couples, two in engagement wear and two in wedding attire join us! We hiked up in the beautiful blue hour light and everyone broke into pairs getting to work with a wedding attire couple and an engagement styled couple. As the couples all hiked down everyone took portraits of each other and of course we snagged a group photo to remember the morning by! We headed back to the community space where chef Bill had whipped up some breakfast for everyone to have before settling into our seats before Malachi’s class on blogging, SEO, ranking on Google and more! Following Malachi’s information packed class we all sat in the back yard for lunch and did open questions on branding, SEO, websites, blogging, shooting and more. After lunch we re-gathered for Bree + Stephen’s class on social media while our models got their hair and makeup done for the sunset styled shoot. Here at Love on Earth Workshop we believe in diversity and how important it is to show every walk of life in your work and on your website so we work hard to have couples that also reflect this for our styled shoots, no one’s love should feel left out when they are looking at your site.

After classes finished up everyone grabbed a snack and then set out for the sunset elopement ceremony styled shoot. We all completed the hike and set up the couple. Again, everyone got their own turn to work with posing the couple and getting to shoot far away from a different angle when it wasn’t their turn and at the end group capturing some of those last moments. We all hiked out in awe of the awesome day! After the shoot we headed back to the community space for dinner and just time to relax and hang out. We chatted about big take aways from the workshop, our goals, how we got into the industry and more. It was time to make friends, reflect and ask those questions that maybe go further than our classes or just in a different direction.

Since the workshop, Malachi and Traci have enjoyed seeing the new websites, new blogs,  awesome bookings that the attendees have been posting. We have a Facebook group where attendees can still connect, ask questions or just find community when it is needed.

Check out all of the vendors that connected with us and helped the styled shoots/workshop come alive!

Check out what some of the attendees have said about the 2020 Love on Earth Workshop in Sedona, Arizona

“Loved this workshop and everyone involved, It was well organized, a fun adventure and extremely educational. I am walking away with a lot of things I will be implementing into my business, a bunch of photos to create content and new friends in the industry who I’m already scheduling meet ups with. I know the educators will be there for me and my business- they truly are invested in everyone who attended and willing to share their knowledge. I got to ask questions specific to my business during breaks and they are topics I had been stewing on for months! The styled elopements were beautiful with high end products, couples who enjoyed being there and beautiful locations you would actually take a couple to elope at. I only wish this workshop could have gone on longer because it was SO MUCH FUN! However, I’m happy it’s over so I can start improving my business!”

It was absolutely fantastic! I had a great time, met some great people, learned SO MUCH useful info about SEO and I’m excited to get to work on my website! I would highly recommend the SEO workshop to ANY photographer and the styled shoots were beautiful and well planned and could be used in a portfolio for even just a regular ol’ wedding photographer like me, who wants to sometimes do some traveling and elopement photography. I feel like any photographer could benefit from this workshop, not just an elopement photographer. I enjoyed the whole workshop and felt that it was definitely worth the investment. Plus, I basically got a 2 day vacay 🙂 5 out of 5 starts – EXCELLENT!

The Love on Earth Workshop was an amazing experience for me. Being this was my first workshop, I had no idea really what to expect. As a bit of an introvert, I can get nervous around a group of people I do not know, but this group was amazing and very welcoming! Getting to meet other awesome photographers who were eager to learn from each other as well as from the classes was the best part to me. Traci did an AMAZING job with the styled shoots, I am so excited about the images I was able to get for my portfolio. Malachi explained SEO in a way I could finally understand and make the necessary changes to my business to get myself out in front of my ideal clients. Very much worth the investment, this Workshop is an experience you will not regret!

Moving forward into the 2021 Love on Earth Workshops!

This year we are hosting two workshops! One in August in Port Angeles, WA (link blog post) and the other in November in Moab, Utah (link blog post)! Malachi and Traci are very excited to bring some heighten education and some more epic styled shoots to the workshop. This year we partnered with Pinterest Guru for more education on social media with Ayalie Marketing. We feel that Pinterest is one of the most powerful tools for an elopement photographer to use outside of your website and can’t wait to help you succeed at the platform. This year the community space will be also where everyone is staying in some epic homes nestled into the areas the shoots are. We are so excited to have more time to build community and just hang out. One of our favorite parts last year was the loose hang out time to just talk about things that everyone wanted to know, getting to know each other and build those connections. This year all the meals will be provided and home cooked, we can accommodate any dietary restrictions and will be cooking yummy, healthy home cooked meals! The styled shoots will be beautiful and since both workshops this year are smaller, more intimate this means even more time working with the couples one on one! We know how disappointing it can be to invest in a workshop that doesn’t deliver. That’s why we want to give you a ton of value, education with “no fluff”, high end styled shoots in beautiful locations.
